Middle School Lesson Plans

OVERVIEW

Middle school teachers and educators can choose from a variety of lesson plans that have been specifically designed for College Day. Longer lesson plans can be completed over one or more days. This website also provides supporting materials including handouts, posters, games, and other resources to help students get excited about college.

Each middle school should be on the lookout for the College Day Kit, which all Santa Clara County schools will receive in September. It includes College Day Posters for every classroom and other giveaways to encourage students to participate in College Day.

• 6th Grade: My Fantasy College
  Students will brainstorm and create their fantasy colleges.
  Time: 25 minutes
• 7th Grade: Educating Myself Benefits Others!
  Students will learn how the community benefits from higher education and explore how important they are to a community and global society beyong their families.
  Time: 25 minutes
• 8th Grade: College Requirements
  Students will learn the three most important requirements in order to be considered eligible for college in the UC and CSU system. Also use the accompanying PowerPoint presentation (ZIP file).
  Time: 25 minutes

General Interest Lesson Plan

• 6th-8th Grade: My Educational Journey
  Students will create their own Educational Journey posters that detail their education experiences so far and also what it might look like in the future.
  Time: 25 minutes
