College Day Internship
Background Information
Next year will be the first celebration of College Day, a new holiday for college students. College Day will be a time for relatives to send care packages and presents to college students, similar to Mother’s Day or Father’s Day. The goal for the first year is for 80 percent of all college students to have heard of the holiday by the time it is celebrated on the first Monday in March. The holiday is being promoted by Black, Ingman, and Ratto (BIR). BIR has offices in Los Angeles, Berkeley, and St. Louis and it is made up of current and former UC Berkeley students.
Internship Benefits
Interns will be active and involved with our effort to create a new holiday. We will be undertaking a number of publicity strategies that are new and innovative and all interns will play a key role in this. Interns will also
*be in constant contact with the CEO and other principals of the company
*be considered first for the round of hiring that will occur in Spring 2007 and 2008
*have the opportunity to propose their own projects to assist BIR and be allowed to take the lead role in managing those projects
*have the opportunity to spend time working in any part of the company that interests them so that they can accumulate the best knowledge to help them with future careers.
Internship Responsibilities
The Intern will divide his time roughly in half between general tasks and work specific to his or her area of focus. General responsibilities are explained below. Please click here to see the BIR Internship Concentrations. Interns who excel in their area of expertise will be allowed to devote a higher percentage of their time to those tasks.
Interns will be expected to assist with data management and data entry, copy-editing and content production, market research and correspondence.
Internship Information
Black, Ingman, and Ratto is currently seeking students to serve as interns for the Fall ‘06 and Spring ‘07 semesters. Participants in the internship will:
*commit to working 10-15 hours per week
*receive no reimbursement, insurance, coverage, or other monetary benefits from the internship
*agree not to share any company information or strategy with outside entities without prior permission
*be responsible for supplying their own computer and work environment (Interns will not work out of a BIR office and therefore there are no resirictions on location for applicants)
